At least for those of us whom are pupils of United States there are a couple of ages that are a "big deal" to age into. Those are 13 when you become a teenager, 16 (in most states) when you can get your drivers lisense and or have a debutant party type thing, 18 when you are considered an adult, can vote in goverment, buy tobacco and adult rated materials, 21 when you can buy alchol and finally 24 when you can rent a car. There are other ones like 30 when your no longer young and the general regoin of late 40's and 50's when you have your mid life crisis, but those arnt to important.
On April tenth I turned 21 years of age, meaning in my Home country I can finally purchase alchol instead of making my own or befriending slightly older people then my self or going to a very relaxed store and not showing them I.D., which I swear I have never done those terrible things and I do not promote such activities.
At any rate I turned 21 and the really wonderful part is that since the age of 19 I have been at the University of Edinburgh in the Uk where the drinking age is 18 and that is where I am now. So instead of having a huge out of control party, which I most likly wouldnt had done anyways. My friend and my self, which we shall the same day of birth had a party in my student apartment. Both of us being avid cooks we made food for the event, I a simple vegible platter, homemade hummus, peta bread, salsa and a carot cake and my friend intisipating far hungrier guests perhaps; made three pots of potato cream soup, two cakes, a very large dinner bread and pork hamburger patties.
On top of there being lots of food I had to be at the airport at about 4:30 am to get my flight into southern Germany for some travels before exams. With only one flatmate of mine in the flat I ended up giving him a great deal of food for him to eat of the week I was not to be there and sending much food back with my friend for his meals for the week.
My apartments kitchen was the main staging area for the party and in my room I had projected onto the wall using my flatmates projector SuperTrooper and then BeerFest for enterianment perposes. Though it is was Easter break with no classes or funictions happening at the Universty and most student on leave to their homes, the party had a farly good turnout and several of the guests stayed up with me through the night before I left to the airport.
One of my good friend brought her mother to the party whom was visting only for a few days from Singapore. When I opened the door my friend introduced me to her mother and then whipped out a liter of Jack Daniels Bourbon and gave it to me as a present from her and another good friend whose birthday and party it also was. So perhaps the very nice mother of my friend has the lovly inpression of me being an alcholic. Hopfuly not though my friend did say she thought I was lovely.
Lucky being a little tipsy I must admit, my flatmate drove me to the airport instead of me having to walk across the city in the dead of a cold night to a bus that would have taken about 45 minutes to get to the airport and cost around 3 pounds, I am for ever greatful to my flatmate.
More about my travels late.......

Heriot Watt Beer Festival
Eriot Watt is a University of the outside of the city of Edinburgh and unlike the University of Edinburgh they have a major of beer brewing. They all have a festival every year in where breweries from all over Scotland and England bring their Ales, Lagers and ciders to the Heriot Watt and place them along side the student brews. Students and others buy a pint glass to get in and then buy a five box check box sheet for five half pints of where they are able choose from any of the breweries products. So you go to the bar, get a half pint and they check off one of your boxes.
To start my day I had the day before for my three meals had oatmeal prepared in different ways and continued the trend, having porrage for breakfast and lunch that day, which when your going to a beer drink festival isnt the greatest diet to start off on. But what can I say, I like oats. Also my lunch that day was just about dead on 12 o'clock and I had eaten nothing up untill we went to the festival at 5pm later that day. Dont worry I was able to check it together however. My flatmmate his friend, his friend's girl friend and my self had preregistered online so when we got there all we had to do is pay are ten pounds for the pint glass entery and the first five box sheet and we were off to the bar. It was truely amazing it was the disneyland of beer. Racks of kegs covering the walls and the smell of beer in the air it was magic.
They had all sorts of beers in body, clarity, bitterness, flavor, aromia, color you name it. I tryed some interesting flavored beers including a chili beer whihc was very nice, a coconut beer, but I was to my dismay unable to taste the juniper beer due to its prevous popularity. This was the second day of only two days the festival was on, so some beers were reaching or had already reached the base of the keg.
My little group tryed differnt beers, explored the campus, obtained second five box sheets and about nine we called it a night and started back to the inner city, with me not feeling well, but still holding it together and everyone feeling accomplished with pint glasses in our pockets.
Finally after getting home near nine thirty and having had no food since 12 I then once again took my bag of oats off the shelf and when at it for a 6th time in a round. Though it was much more helpful this time, obsorbing a great deal of beer in my stomach so I could sleep that night.
