Burns night

I had no idea what it was, but yesterday was Burns days in Scotland. Which as far as I can tell is to celabrate the Scottish poet Burns. But it is also to celabrate all things that are Scottish. What the celabration includes is drinking heavly and eating haggis. I know what your thinking. Your thinking "isn't that Scottish people do every day?" Thats only half true, they dont eat haggis every day its a celabrational meal. But they also read several poems from Burns after the dinner. Including one poem that is very long call An Ode to a Haggis. But since my flat mates and my self are students are students and will do anything to get out of reading anything we didnt read any of the poems.
Before I knew all of this I had no idea that the day was a holiday. I woke up went to my classes and only when I went to the market after my last class did I notice that there was a large self of haggis at the corner of one of the lanes. I had a look at them and there were smaller ones to serve about three people and then the full sized sheeps stomachs one that served like 20 people. The market also had a sale on short bread, but that might have been unrelated because I walked in there this morning and it was still on sale. I think they are trying to push it before it goes bad.
Anyways that night not knowing anything about this holiday I made my self dinner early, then kinda just sat around for about two hours not knowing where veryone had goin. I fell asleep and heird a ruckus from the kichen. So I went over and there was about a half dozen people cooking up a storm. So I sat with them while they filled me in on what Burns night was. Then ended the night watching that guy cut off his arm in 127 hours with that group while sitting on a small bed with six other people who were all smaller then me. Merry happy Burns night everyone!
